Jeffrey Rex Bertelsen's New Year's Speech: "Goodbye 2011"

Hello,

2011 is a year that marked a lot of things, some more important than others. It was a year that changed me into someone with clearer goals for the future. It was a good year!

In sport a lot of fans were terrified. Why? Well, two very important leagues could have been cancelled this year. I am of course speaking of the NFL & NBA-discussions. Thankfully, it’s all settled for now. And another year in sports has been terrific, not really for the teams I love – but in general. Next up are topics that, at times, will be kind of sad. Politics and the likes.

I believe in a lot of things. Things that, thankfully, had a big impact on the year that is now over. This was also the year for an election in Denmark – an election that was supposed to be my first election, I was gonna cast my first vote ever! However, the ex-Danish Minister of State Lars Løkke Rasmussen chose to have the election only 15 days before my 18th Birthday, and therefore I couldn’t vote this year – a huge disappointment.

Even though I didn’t get to vote I was happy when the voting began. Every election in Europe is a symbol of how Democracy has won. Later that evening, however, I wasn’t that glad – Why? Well, the thing is that the Party I’d have voted for did not ’win’ the election – they are no longer a part of our Government. Instead the current leading Party is the Socialdemocrats – a Party that holds the second highest number of seats in the so-callled Folketing. My Party did not win, but, thankfully Democracy won!

Actually, I’d like to dedicate this year to Democracy. For example we saw Southern Sudan vote for Independence – a power we all must give them. Even though 2011 is the year of Democracy, it’s also a year full of Dictatorship and horrors. The name Gaddafi was unfortunately mentioned a number of times, but we were reminded of a certain horror in the beginning of September – thankfully, however, balance has been brought to the situation. 10 years after 9/11 we could look back and hope for a brighter future, one where Terrorism wasn’t gonna be in high gear. The American Army had a huge win in the battle against Terrorism however – the death of Osama Bin Laden came in 2011. And even though a death is never good, balance is needed and sorrow must be cast aside.

In Europe we have the European Union, a community that certainly is being tested, perhaps being split up. I’ve always believed in the European Union, and the ideas that Sir Winston Churchill, among others, once presented – and it hurts to see those ideas being tested the way they are. But it is natural, and it must happen. Every huge community and union must be tested at some point or another. I remember reading of the failed League of Nations and how its replacement came to life. I believe that we somehow must either resurrect the European Union and its ideas completely, or start over – and build a new Union, based on the newfound ideas, treasures and knowledge.

Denmark will now have the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, an honour that we must take serious. This is our chance to do what is right, and to show the rest of Europe that even a small country, such as Denmark, can take charge and do what is right! We must build the foundation for the future of this United Europe.

I, myself, dream of one day being a big part of this Union – that is a dream I have, but first off I need to be educated at Universities. My stay at ’Odsherreds Gymnasium’ is almost over, and though I am sad that I must leave my friends and classmates for other cities, I am happy to know that the future shines bright as a beacon of light through the street that we all must cross.

I thank my friends, and I thank my family for a good year – and I wish, I dream that the next will be as good for us all; if not better. I couldn’t have made it through this year without people like my sister, and my friends Sidney, Jeppe, Mathias & Martin – that is a fact. Thank you, I appreciate it.

So, that was it – and now a new year is upon us. 2012. A year that, according to Chaos Theorists, will lead to our doom. I don’t know if I am to laugh or cry – but let’s just see what happens.

Thank you all.

Happy New Year!

- Jeffrey Rex Bertelsen.

With Dragon Dictate: Today's QB's

It is tough to understand, how tough it is to cope with reality  in sports. Especially in football. In the NFL players like Philip Rivers, Jay Cutler, Tom Brady and the amazing, multi talented, running and throwing quarterback Cam Newton are always treated differently than offensive linemen, why? Well the answer is simple, as an offensive lineman the leading role is not thrust upon you. You expect every quarterback to be a leader, a leader like Peyton Manning. But that isn't always the case, sometimes players like Ryan Leaf surface. Players that don't understand the game, players that don't fit in and players that are just too juvenile. This is unfortunate, for in the 21st century you are expected to act a certain way. Reality is twisted, or well, it is to them. This reality doesn't fit with their normal life, or what they expected it to be. Every quarterback must be a leader, or else he doesn't belong as the 1st stringer. That is how the NFL works today. Look at Mark Sanchez, does he belong? Because when you look at him, well, he doesn't call the shots. Their center does. We will see what happens, in the coming weeks. Will he thrive, or will he stumble? The same can be asked, when speaking of Tim Tebow and especially, Blaine Gabbert!

Thank you very much,

NFL Week 2 Review & Week 3 Predictions!

Hello everyone,

Last week, I was 0-1 and had the goal to go 1-1 when this week began. I've reached that goal! I won week 2 11-5 & am now 1-1. It was also a week that saw my Bears losing to the Saints... They are now 1-1, they go into this week with a clear mind - ready to face the defending Super Bowl Champs, Green Bay Packers!

Here are my predictions for week 3:

Sunday:

New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills
Winner: New England Patriots.
- The Pats go up against an in form team from Buffalo, but, Brady'll take them down!

San Francisco 49'ers @ Cincinnati Bengals
Winner: Cincinnati Bengals.
- The Bengals have a young offense, but, I do see them taking the win here against the Niners.

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings
Winner: Detroit Lions.
- 2-0 and still goint strong, they'll knock the 0-2 Vikes down!

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles
Winner: Philadelphia Eagles.
- Tough game, this one. Philly I'll take it!

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Carolina Panthers
Winner: Carolina Panthers.
- Cam versus Blaine, 2 rookie QBs. I see the amazingly talented Cam Newton taking the win - he has been amazing already this season.

Miami Dolphins @ Cleveland Browns
Winner: Cleveland Browns.
- I really like the Browns this year, I see them taking the Fins down in a tight game.

Houston Texans @ New Orleans Saints
Winner: New Orleans Saints.
- The Saints proved last week that they are very talented, and I see them going 2-1 this week.

Denver Broncos @ Tennessee Titans
Winner: Tennessee Titans.
- Even though I'd like to see Jake Locker play today - Hasselbeck isn't that bad, they'll take down Orton/Tebow.

New York Jets @ Oakland Raiders
Winner: New York Jets.
- J-E-T-S = Destined(by me) to win the Super Bowl within 3 years! They'll take a win today.

Baltimore Ravens @ St.Louis Rams
Winner: Baltimore Ravens.
- Even though I like the Rams, I see the Ravens taking this one.

Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers
Winner: San Diego Chargers.
- Rivers will have a good day.

Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks
Winner: Arizona Cardinals.
- The Kolb lead Arizona team will take another win here.

Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Winner: Atlanta Falcons.
- Matty Ice'll take the win here.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears
Winner: Chicago Bears.
- I'm biased, but, I cannot pick against the Bears when they meet the Pack.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts
Winner: Pittsburgh Steelers.
- Big Ben takes on the worst team in the NFL.... This one should be easy...

Monday:

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys
Winner: Washington Redskins.
- I like Shanahan, I like Rex Grossman.... Go Skins!

So, let's see if I go 2-1 or 1-2... I'll hope for the best, but, I'd give it all up for a Bears win!

Once again,
I'm Jeffrey Rex!

NFL Week 2 Picks/Predictions + week 1 review & the Election!

Hello everyone,

To start of with I'd like to say that I originally planned for this to come out earlier than it did, but a government election ruined my timing. By the way, it became a "Red-Government" where Socialism is the general ideology, and of the parties have been known to use communism as well... It is no secret that I would have wanted a "Blue-government" where Liberalism is the general ideology... But, let's not dwell on something I was ineligible to vote for... 15 days to young for crying out loud!

But, moving on.... my week 1 predictions really fell through! I ended up only getting 7 correct out of the 16 possible. But, I must say that somethings surprised me and some other matches were just flat out to close to call. So after week 1 I'm 0-1....

Week 2 Predictions:

Sunday, 1 PM:

Oakland Raiders @ Buffalo Bills
Winner: Buffalo Bills.
- The Raiders won a very close match last week, but, the bills on the other hand flat-out destroyed the Chiefs; therefore I see Bills taking another win, and going 2-0!

Kansas City Chiefs @ Detroit Lions
Winner: Detroit Lions.
- No question here, the Lions were amazing in week 1 - and they'll surely destroy a Kansas City team that were horrible against Buffalo last week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Minnesota Vikings
Winner: Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- Picking against the Vikings twice in a row... Sorry Vikings-fans but I just don't see you doing well this season... With that being said, this is a match they actually might win!

Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets
Winner: New York Jets.
- I'm not feeling that the Jax will defeat the J-E-T-S this week. Sanchez is getting better.

Baltimore Ravens @ Tennessee Titans
Winner: Baltimore Ravens.
- I underestimated the Ravens last week, that won't happen again!

Green Bay Packers @ Carolina Panthers
Winner: Green Bay Packers.
- I want to pick The Panthers this week, but unfortunately I see Rodgers ripping them apart... However, with what Cam Newton proved last week - nothing's for sure.

Cleveland Browns @ Indianapolis Colts
Winner: Cleveland Browns.
- No Peyton = No victory!

Chicago Bears @ New Orleans Saints
Winner: Chicago Bears.
- Yes, I'm biased, but, with what the Bears did last week I see them being awesome all season. I'm not picking against my team twice in a row!

Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Winner: Pittsburgh Steelers.
- Seattle might be destroyed here!

Arizona Cardinals @ Washington Redskins
Winner: Rex Grossm... I mean Washington Redskins.
- With what the Skins showed me last week I feel comfortable they'll pick the Cards apart, however, I'm looking to see Patrick Peterson have another good game.

Sunday, 4:05 / 4:15 PM:

Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers
Winner: Dallas Cowboys.
- Well, my father's team will get a win...

Cincinnati Bengals @ Denver Broncos
Winner: Cincinnati Bengals.
- Very close game here, but, I see the Bengals taking the win....

San Diego Chargers @ New England Patriots
Winner: New England Patriots.
- Despite this being a close game, I can't pick against Brady this week...

Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons
Winner: Philadelphia Eagles.
- The Bears were amazing against the Falcons, and Philly will also be amazing against Matty Ice.

Houston Texans @ Miami Dolphins
Winner: Houston Texans.
- Texans 2-0? I believe!

Monday, 8:30 PM:

St. Louis Rams @ New York Giants
Winner: St. Louis Rams.
- Not so sure here, but, I'll pick the Rams!

After losing 9-7 in week 1, this'll be important! Hopefully I can get to 1-1 after this week!

And once again,
I'm Jeffrey Rex!

NFL Week 1: Predictions/Picks

Hello everyone,

I know, I know - The first match is already over, but I'd like to share my predictions with everyone.

New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers
- Winner: Green Bay Packers.
--Yes, it's already over but I really did pick them - I can proof it, if you ask me to.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens
- Winner: Pittsburgh Steelers.
-- As you saw in my season predictions, I feel good about both of these teams - but, for me Steelers are the better team, they'll take a win in Baltimore!

Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
- Winner: Tennessee Titans.
-- This is a very close match, but, I believe that without Garrard Jaguars will have a tough time - IMHO Hasselbeck defeats Luke McCown easily, I beg of you Jacksonville; Start Gabbert!

Philadelphia Eagles @ St. Louis Rams
- Winner: Philadelphia Eagles.
-- The infamous 'Dream Team' from Philly will take this IMHO, but, I'd like to believe The Rams will put up a fight. I'll cheer for Rams in this one, but, I see the Eagles taking it.

Atlanta Falcons @ Chicago Bears
- Winner: Atlanta Falcons.
-- Well, I'm a Bears fan, but, I've chosen to be objective during my predictions... At least this time... Matty Ice might do a lot of good in this game, but, I do see Bears doing a lot of great things too.

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans
- Winner: Houston Texans.
-- Had this been a complete healthy Colts team, I'd have chosen them to win - but, without Manning The Colts aren't that great...

Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs
- Winner: Kansas City Chiefs.
-- This is a tough one... But, my gut says Chiefs.

Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Winner: Detroit Lions.
-- The Lions will have a great season... And they'll take the win here. They simply are the best of these two.

Minnesota Vikings @ San Diego Chargers
- Winner: San Diego Chargers.
-- The Chargers will have great year... The Vikings won't - as simple as that!

New York Giants @ Washington Redskins
- Winner: New York Giants.
-- The Giants will take a great win in Skin' Country! I really like Grossman, but, his opponents simply are better.

Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals
- Winner: Carolina Panthers.
-- This is another tough one, but, I see Carolina taking it - but, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cardinals destroying them.

Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49'ers
- Winner: Seattle Seahawks.
-- Yes, the Seattle QB's aren't that great - but, neither are the 49'ers'... Seattle will take this one, that's my gut feeling.

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Jets
- Winner: New York Jets.
-- I really look forward to this game! My father's favorite team (Cowboys) takes on one of the teams I see winning the Super Bowl. I just don't see Dallas doing a lot in this game...

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins
- Winner: New England Patriots.
-- The Pats will take the win here, these are two opposites... Phins = Bad season, Pats = Great season.

Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos
- Winner: Denver Broncos.
-- Why the Broncos? Answer: They simply have more skill this season IMHO...

Hopefully, I'll go 16-0 this week - but I'll follow up.

Thank you,

I'm Jeffrey Rex!

Individual Awards - picks!

As promised, here are my picks for the individual awards in this years NFL!

NFL MVP:
Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers.
- I see Rivers having a great year, this season. Rivers has been outstanding these last few seasons, and this year he'll shine!

Offensive Player of the Year:
Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers.
- I really am worried I'll repeat myself... so... xD

Defensive Player of the Year:
Darrelle Revis, New York Jets.
- Revis Island won't let anything get past him this year, he'll be a leader in the hunt for Rings!

Offensive Rookie of the Year:
Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints.
- Now I'm not so sure about this one... But, I do see Ingram having a great year - and it doesn't hurt to be with an experienced QB.

Defensive Rookie of the Year:
Patrick Peterson, Arizona Cardinals.
- Peterson will need to be outstanding for the Cardinals this season - and he will! I believe in this guy!

Next up: This week's picks!!

Revisited NFL Picks for the Season!

Hello everyone,

I have chosen to take another look at the entire picks of the NFL, I’ll do that in this post! Beginning right now.

Here are my revisited picks for the AFC divisions:

Placement

AFC East

AFC North

AFC South

AFC West

1.

Patriots

Steelers

Colts

Chargers

2.

Jets

Ravens

Texans

Chiefs

3.

Bills

Browns

Titans

Broncos

4.

Dolphins

Bengals

Jaguars

Raiders

I don’t believe I’ve changed much in the AFC East picks; the Pats simply are to tough in this division, sorry Jets. The Bills will take 3rd place in front of the ’Phins. So that’s that.

In the AFC North Steelers will once again reign, the Ravens will come close – but will ultimately fail. I have a lot of faith in the Browns, and I don’t see the Dalton Bengals win against the McCoy Browns.

Moving on to the AFC South; The Colts will once again win the division and Texans won’t get a Wildcard… Locker’s Titans & Gabbert’s Jags will be locked in a battle for 3rd place all year!

I’ve changed a lot in the AFC West, at first I thought that the Chiefs would be amazing this year, but right now – I just don’t see them take the division after all.

Next up is the NFC Division!:

Placement

NFC East

NFC North

NFC South

NFC West

1.

Eagles

Packers

Falcons

Rams

2.

Giants

Bears

Saints

Cardinals

3.

Cowboys

Lions

Panthers

Seahawks

4.

Redskins

Vikings

Buccaneers

49ers

I didn’t have a lot of problems picking in the NFC East, the [in]famous ’’dream team’’ from Philly will win the division, not easily – but they’ll win. The Giants will be better than both the ’Boys & The ’Skins this year, and the latter two wil fight all of this year for 3rd place.

It hurts my Bear-heart to say that the Packers will take the division this year… But hey, they probably will. I have a lot of believe in the Bears, but also the Lions this year! The Lions will fight the Bears for 2nd place, but they’ll end up with a 8-8 record – whilst the Bears will have a winning season. The Vikes will have a lot of problems this year, but, they’ll return next year with a great young QB in Christian Ponder.

In the NFC South I see Ryan’s Falcons defeating Brees’ Saints, this year – no doubt fo me here. The Panthers will take 3rd, in a division were the real fight will be for 3rd place, between them and the Bucs.

This year I see Sam Bradford leading the Rams to a division title, Seattle and Arizona won’t keep up, and the 49ers might have the first pick in next year’s draft!

So, IMHO The Pats, Steelers, Colts, Chargers, Packers, Falcons, Eagles & Rams will be in the Playoffs due to them winning their divisions, but who’ll take the two wildcards? Here’s my opinion:

- The New York Jets will come close to winning their division, but will ultimately fail due to an amazing Patriot team. The Jets will go to the Playoffs with a Wildcard – and the Ravens will also get a Wildcard. In the NFC it’s a tough challenge to find the Wildcard Teams… I see the Saints getting the first Wildcard – and then it's a battle between the Bears and the Giants!

So to sum up:

DIVISION WINNERS:
- Patriots
- Steelers
- Colts
- Chargers
- Packers
- Falcons
- Eagles
- Rams

WILDCARDS:
- Jets (AFC)
- Ravens (AFC)
- Saints (NFC)
- Bears (NFC)

… But who’ll win the NFC & the AFC Championships? I see the Jets winning the AFC Championship! The New York Wildcard team will pull a Packer-10-playoff-season, and go to the Super Bowl! In the NFC I see the Falcons going to the Super Bowl this season, and winning the NFC Championship!

In the battle between the two Champions, the Jets will finally get their Super Bowl rings! A great defence combined with a better Sanchez and great running game will give them the ultimate victory this season!

NFC CHAMP:
- Atlanta Falcons

AFC CHAMP:
- New York Jets

Super Bowl Champions:
- New York Jets

In the Next post I’ll take a look at the other picks I need to make – for example MVP of the Season!

NFL 11/12 Preview: AFC WEST

…Dary!! Legendary!!

Hello everyone, I’m Jeffrey Rex!

The next division is the AFC West!

AFC – West:

AFC – West

1. Kansas City Chiefs

2. San Diego Chargers

3. Denver Broncos

4. Oakland Raiders

- The Chiefs will win, my first thought on this Division. They have a very good QB in Matt Cassel, a couple of great Runningbacks in Le’Ron McClain, Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles & three great receivers in Moeaki, Bowe & Baldwin! They’ll win because they got better! The Chargers will lose because they haven’t… Denver will see a fight between Tebow & Orton, a battle that Orton is winning… That might be for the best. The Raiders are not gonna win, they’ll probably only win 3 or 4 games this year… But, you never know about the Raiders… This Division might have a Wildcard winner in San Diego!

That was the AFC - next up is the NFC... After that I'll speculate about the Wildcard's and the overall picture of the NFL Post-Season!

Once again, I’m Jeffrey Rex!

And the next post will be Legen… Wait for it!

NFL 11/12 Preview: AFC South

…Dary!! Legendary!!

Hello everyone, I’m Jeffrey Rex!

The next division is the AFC South!

AFC – South:

AFC – South

1. Indianapolis Colts

2. Houston Texans

3. Jacksonville Jaguars

4. Tennesee Titans

- If there’s one thing I feel very sure of, it is that Jack Del Rio will lose his job at the end of the year! I believe that if the Jags don’t make the Playoffs he’ll be sacked! The same might happen for Gary Kubiak, but, I see them having more to fight with. The Colts, lead by Peyton Manning, will win this division again… I don’t see them losing this year, I really don’t… The real fight is for the second place, and a possible Wildcard! Texans are ahead in that competition IMHO. They are the only of the remaining teams that haven’t signed a rookie QB with expectations to start. The Jags & Titans are gonna have a QB fight, in Titan-country we have Hasselbeck versus Locker & in Jacksonville we have Gabbert versus Garrard. I don’t see Locker playing until the end of the season, but, I see Gabbert playing from around week 7-10 until the end of the season. I like these two rookies, but, they’ll have tough competition. I see the Jags beating the Titans in this fierce battle, due to having MJD.

Once again, I’m Jeffrey Rex!

And the next post will be Legen… Wait for it!

NFL 11/12 Preview: AFC NORTH

…Dary! Legendary!!

Hello everyone, I’m Jeffrey Rex!

Next up is the AFC – North!

AFC – North:

AFC – North

1. Baltimore Ravens

2. Pittsburgh Steelers

3. Cleveland Browns

4. Cincinnati Bengals

- This is the Division of the interesting rookie WideReceivers, in Baltimore we have Torrey Smith, Greg Little in Cleveland & A.J. Green in Cincinnati. I’d look out for these guys if I were you! The Bengals have a good team, BUT, they have no intention of starting Andy Dalton – as I understand them. So they’ll probably start with Gradkowski – I see this team being very unlucky this year… The Browns have a good starting QB, McCoy is gonna be good this year – his number of fans will rise! I look forward to see if Hillis wil have a bad year, possibly due to the Madden Curse! I don’t think that they have done much in Pittsburgh – but then again, did they need to? I really don’t think so, the team has a lot of talent and will be good once again… But, the Ravens will win this year – they have gotten better – and I see Flacco having a great year! But it will be close, possibly right down to the blowing of the whistle!

Once again, I’m Jeffrey Rex!

And the next post will be Legen… Wait for it!

NFL 11/12 Preview: AFC EAST

...Dary! Legendary!!

Hello evryone, I'm Jeffrey Rex!

I’ve made a few Team Reviews – these were made before the free agency, so some things have changed. In this post I’ll make my picks for The AFC East Division, numbers 1-4.

AFC - East:
We begin with the AFC – East, I’ve made a few Team Reviews for this division and here are first my picks and then the review of the strength, and so on and so forth:

AFC East:

1. New England Patriots

2. New York Jets

3. Buffalo Bills

4. Miami Dolphins

- In this division we have a very tough battle for the top position, the Bills have definitely gotten better – but then again they are up against two very tough NFL-Teams. The Jets want to throw more this season, but they have lost Cotchery & Braylon Edwards – fortunately for Sanchez he now has Derrick Mason & Plaxico Burres to throw, and of course, also Keller & Holmes. Another guy the Jets will be glad to have this season is Jeremy Kerley, he will probably be ’’the new Brad Smith’’, meaning he’ll be the return specialist. Sorry people of Miami, but I don’t see any good thing happen to the ‘Fins this season – IMHO they have no decent QB, and if they don’t get Kyle Orton – they’ll ride solely on Marshall, Bush & rookie Thomas’ shoulders. As for the Bills I have only noticed +’s since they started recruiting for the new season. I especially notice the signing of Brad Smith & the undrafted rookie Joshua Nesbitt – the Bills will be the new Wildcat team – only rivalled by the Eagles, but I’ll get to them later. IMHO, Nesbitt should have been picked up by the Jets, but maybe there was a reason he went undrafted… I’ve picked the Pats to win this Division this year, that’s because of them strengthening their squad with guys like OchoCinco & Haynesworth (who I see having a great year – this is the only team that’ll be able to control him, IMHO.). #10: C’est la guerre!

…Dary! Legendary!!!

Hello everyone, I’m Jeffrey Rex!
Le Tour de France 2011, that is the scene you need to picture. This once so beautiful sport has gone through a metamorphosis! It’s no longer the sport in which athletes beautifully showed us how you can tame the roads majestically with a bicycle – this sport event is now a media event in which you are lucky to survive a day with no injuries at all. This event has blood and dirt on their hands.

Le Tour de France 2011 was depicted as the battle between Alberto Contador & Andy Schleck. Everyone was ready for a tough battle, would it be the best rider in the world (IMHO), Alberto Contador, or would the better team Leopard Trek, with Andy Schleck, prevail?
We were all anxious to find out. But already on the first day, drama and nerves set in. A fan standing to close to the road caused a rider to crash, but the crash also threw a hole half of the Tour de France-riders into the ground. Including Alberto Contador. However, the crashes didn’t end there. The following days, captains were eliminated due to pressure, speed, anxiousness and whatnot. Including the Dauphine Liberé winner, Bradley Wiggins from Sky Pro Cycling & the Legend Alexandre Vinokourov. But these crashes aren’t that firmly set in our minds at this hour. We remember how ASO, Prudhomme & the rest of the guys behind the Tour de France didn’t plan a good enough road, and that they didn’t have their men ready for the fierce battle.

The first rest day is now almost over, and we remember how Nicki Sorensen, SaxoBank-SunGard, was ripped off his bike by a motorcycle, and how a car, with French Television Logoes printed on, collided with riders Juan Antonio Flecha & Johnny Hoogerland – this is printed in our memory! This horrific incident and the barbed wire tearing into Johnny Hoogerland’s legs and whatnot terrifies us!

And most importantly, terrifies the riders! I beg of you, keep them safe – at least for the remainder of this years Tour de France – then you can plan a better road next year!
